Sea service will be assessed using the National Standard for Commercial Vessels Part D, Crew Competencies.  A copy of this document is available on AMSA's website www.nationalsystem.amsa.gov.au/seafarer. 

You must then apply to the NT Marine Safety Branch (AMSA) in Darwin who will assess your sea time.

Mandatory units (which are part of the 16 units)  for the MED 2 Course are the Shipboard Safety Skill Set.

Assessment

Our role at SMIT is to deliver the training and assessment.  On successful completion of the course, students will be issued with Certificate of Attainment from SMIT.

Final Assessment

After successful completion of the course at SMIT, and the issue of a Certificate of Attainment, students are required to undertake a final assessment conducted by Marine Safety Branch NT, (AMSA) a national regulator approved assessor.
